Texas-born hip-hop artist Ajoshd is breaking new ground in Southern hip-hop with his fearless blend of sharp lyricism, Native-inspired instrumentation and immersive atmospheric production. His latest single and music video, “Y’all Don’t”, taken from his recently released album TEJAS, is a confident, visceral and defiant statement from a truly self-produced artist.

On the creative process behind the track, he explains: “I wanted to create an intense track that was extremely high energy. I had already decided on a Native American theme throughout the album, so I found this flute sound and knew it was perfect. I added the death whistle sound to further intensify the track. My family loved the film Apocalypto, so I feel like this track could be compared to that aesthetic, like running through the forest being chased by a warring tribe. It just came to me. After I made the beat, the verses were basically automatic.”
