Shungu ft: Fly Anakin, Goya Gumbani & Fatima - Talk To The Mass (Official Video)

Belgian producer Shungu has released new single Talk To The Mass featuring Fly Anakin, Goya Gumbani and Fatima. Watch accompanying video, which stars all four artists below.

Shungu’s subtle, breezy beat perfectly compliments Fly Anakin and Goya Gumbani’s incisive raps, whilst Fatima’s softer vocals bind the various styles.  The visual is directed by Mackai Sharp.  Talk To The Mass serves as an introductory offering ahead to Shungu’s forthcoming full length project, due out later this year on Lex Records.

“This was the first time I ever made a proper music video for one of my tracks, so it felt like a special moment for me”, explains the Brussels-born artist.  “I had a dream team on this track.  The day we recorded it, Fatima and Goya happened to be there unexpectedly.  I was in a session with Frank (Fly Anakin).  At one point, there were about 10 of us crammed into a tiny studio.  The good thing was that the energy pushed everyone to really step up their writing.”

Shungu has carved out a space as an innovative voice in underground hip-hop, blending jazz-infused sampling with cosmic grooves and collaborating with Pink Siifu, Fly Anakin, YUNGMORPHEUS and others.  His 2019 debut album A Black Market Album was described by Pitchfork as having “perfectly chosen drums and subtle swagger, reminiscent of nothing so much as golden-age Slum Village and other pre-Donuts J. Dee classics.”
