Alex Puddu - Professione Reporter (Album)
Alex Puddu Returns with ‘Professione Reporter’: A Sleazy-Soulful Soundtrack for Lovers of Vintage Cool.
Hot on the heels of Deliria — that lush fusion of erotic disco and retro Italo-soul that lit up stations like BBC 6, NTS and Radio 3 — Italy-born, Copenhagen-based Alex Puddu is back with Professione Reporter, an album steeped in groove, sleaze, and cinematic flair.
Recorded in Rome at the legendary Sound Work Shop (the same hallowed space once used by maestro Piero Umiliani), Puddu’s new project is a concept album drenched in adult-oriented disco-pop, all sung in Italian and laced with a distinctly voyeuristic plot. Think: a globe-trotting photojournalist-turned-gigolo trailing wealthy widows through mysterious deaths, illicit inheritances, and lavish liaisons.
Musically, Professione Reporter dives deep into boogie, electro-funk, and smooth balladry. Highlights include the sensual, jazz-funk title track; the sun-drenched Un’ Estate A Rio; the killer Italo groove of Salon Privé; and Amanti Diabolici, an electro-funk banger that’s as playful as it is sharp.
From bossa nova laced spy tales (Marrakech) to 80s-tinged sax-laden seductions (Velenia), Puddu crafts a sonic world where George Michael meets Giallo, and the beat always comes with a wink.
Professione Reporter is both homage and original—another irresistible trip from a master of mood and motion.
