PREMIERE: AK CEEZ - RICOCHET (Single)
AK CEEZ BOUNCES BACK WITH “RICOCHET” – A HEAVYWEIGHT TRACK FUSED WITH GRIT, PAIN, AND PURPOSE.
Emerging from the council estates of North-East Scotland with razor sharp bars and a truth you can’t deny, AK CEEZ makes his long-awaited return with “Ricochet” — a cold, boom bap-laced track that cuts through the noise and speaks from the gut.
Premiering exclusively via Wordplay Magazine, Ricochet is more than a warm-up — it’s a mission statement. After time away from releasing, AK steps back in the ring with intent, dropping lines like “I been ghost for a minute – but now I’m back in the flesh” and “No mask, no games — this the truth I fillet” over a raw 90s-style instrumental laced with live turntable scratches. It’s classic UK hip-hop energy, brought into 2025 with surgical precision.
Produced in collaboration with beatmaker and scratch artist MMPBeatz, the track captures AK’s journey — from grief and street tension, to focus, healing, and legacy. Every bar is rooted in lived experience: from his insight into the politics of the scene, to the foundation of his joint movement AB Kollective, and the fire lit by the loss of his mother Gail and grandmother Abi.
Ricochet also serves as a lead-up to his anticipated joint mixtape The Origins — a collaborative project with rising rap partner Yung Kenz, blending a shared generational history of pain, pride, and perspective into one sharp-edged voice.
Ricochet isn’t for the charts — it’s for the culture.
For those building in silence.
For those written off.
For those that reload and return.
