Elmiene - This is the Remix (Triple Single)
Acclaimed British-Sudanese soul sensation Elmiene returns with ‘This is the Remix’, out now via Polydor/Def Jam Recordings.
The three track remix bundle revisits fan-favourite tracks ‘Light Work’ and ‘Someday’ with the help of Los Angeles rapper, singer and producer BLXST, legendary super-producer Timbaland, Rance of Los Angeles production collective 1500 Or Nothin’ and German Soulection-affiliated beatmaker IAMNOBODI.
Both songs have become key features of Elmiene’s growing catalogue, making regular appearances in live sets - including his impressive NPR Tiny Desk Concert. ‘Light Work’ was playlisted at BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, while ‘Someday’ is his biggest hit to date with over 20 million streams.
‘Light Work’ from last year’s ’Anyway I Can’ EP, sees Elmiene celebrating the joy of easy-going relationships. Grammy-nominated multi-hyphenate BLXST furthers the track’s already global appeal as he celebrates West Coast link ups via his signature blend of rap and R&B.
‘Someday’ first appeared on 2023’s breakout project ‘Marking My Time’ and sees Elmiene yearning to return to a love experienced in the past. Appearing twice on ‘This is the Remix’, the track is reimagined by Timbaland and Rance 1500, as well as IAMNOBODI.
Next month Elmiene will support D’Angelo at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia (May 31st) and UK fans will have the chance to catch him perform at London’s Jazz Cafe festival this summer (3rd August), as he continues to establish himself as a favourite of contemporary soul and R&B fans. Having broke through in 2023 with his ‘El-Mean’ and ‘Marking My Time’ EPs, he had a prolific 2024 with two more original EPs ‘Anyway I Can’ and ‘For The Deported’ as well as two live releases ‘Live at RAK Studios’ and ‘Live from 525’ - the latter comprising covers of tracks by Frank Ocean, Prince and Cleo Sol.
Elmiene has been embraced by a global community of creatives - collaborating with some of the most sought-after names in music including Leon Thomas, ASAP Ferg, Syd, Sampha, Lil Silva, D’Mile, Dahi and Stormzy - and hotly tipped by press and tastemakers with coverage in Dazed, The Guardian, The Face, NME, Teen Vogue, Rolling Stone and Complex. He received a nomination for the BRITs Rising Star Award and the Ivor Novello Rising Star Award, plus he was shortlisted as one of the artist to watch on the BBC Radio 1 Sound of 2024 poll, VEVO, MTV, Pandora Music, BBC 1Xtra and Ticketmaster.
