Wesley Joseph Returns With ‘If Time Could Talk’.
Walsall born, London based multi hyphenate Wesley Joseph makes a striking return with ‘If Time Could Talk’, his first release since 2023. After stepping back to reconnect with his artistic purpose, Joseph arrives with a track that feels both expansive and intimate, a cinematic slice of soul that sits perfectly within his ever evolving universe.
Atmospheric and emotionally charged, the song captures the hazy space between night and morning, where memory blurs with longing. Joseph describes it as an exploration of “lost connection, desire, regret and romanticising the past”, a feeling distilled into something immediate and beautifully melancholic.
Co produced with Nicolas Jaar, Harvey Dweller and Tev’n, the track’s slow burning production and dreamlike textures highlight Joseph’s instinct for crafting worlds as much as songs. Originally conceived as a faster dance instrumental, it only clicked when he slowed it down: “Suddenly the feeling and texture became clear, electric, nostalgic, twisted and aching all at once.”
True to form, the release arrives with a self directed video shot in Paris. Shadowy club spaces, mirrored rooms and surreal, shifting visuals build towards a feverish crescendo, showcasing Joseph’s filmmaking sensibilities and his gift for world building. It’s a striking companion piece that mirrors the track’s emotional arc.
Since breaking through with ULTRAMARINE and later GLOW, Joseph has been hailed as one of the UK’s most forward thinking artists, collaborating with the likes of A.K. Paul, Dave Okumu, Joy Orbison, Loyle Carner and childhood friend Jorja Smith, while taking his live show across the UK, Europe and North America.
Wesley Joseph returns to the stage on 21 January for an intimate headline show at Hideout, a chance to step back into his singular sonic and visual world.
