DEELA - Wicked (Mixtape)

DEELA Closes a Landmark Year with New Mixtape ‘Wicked’.

Nigerian British rapper DEELA rounds off a defining year with the release of her long awaited mixtape, “Wicked an eight track project that captures the fearless, high energy sound she’s fast becoming known for.

Born out of a writing camp in Nigeria, Wicked channels DEELA’s trademark bounce and bold sonic vision, fusing elements reminiscent of the classic Don Jazzy era with a modern, global flair. The mixtape features production from Genio Bambino, Black Culture, and Twitch, with standout collaborations including 3Monzo on L.O.M.N (Love Of My Night) and Fetish (known for work with Doechii) on Tough Nut.

Lead singles Slide and Why Always Me cemented DEELA’s reputation for crafting music that travels, rhythm led, confident, and universal in feel. Her growing momentum recently caught the attention of Little Simz, who invited her on stage in Manchester and at London’s O2 Arena, a moment that underscored DEELA’s rising impact.

A self taught independent artist, DEELA’s journey began during the pandemic while completing her studies. Reigniting her lifelong love of rap, she carved out her own lane in a space where female representation was scarce, building community with creatives like Deto Black and brazy. Early encouragement from innovators including Cruel Santino and Mowalola gave her the push to go all in.

Since then, she’s honed a distinctive trap meets hip hop sound, leading to collaborations with Flo Milli, Teni, BXKS, Len, and Coco & Clair Clair. Her 2024 EP Good Girl Dey No Pay marked a turning point, created alongside Genio Bambino, it cemented her as one of the UK’s most exciting voices in global rap.

Beyond the booth, DEELA’s influence is spilling into fashion and culture. With co-signs from Sinead Gorey, Di Petsa, and Jeffrey Campbell (who featured her in a Lagos campaign), and appearances at London Fashion Week shows for Charlie Constantinou, AGRO, and Lueder, she’s proving herself as a multidimensional force.

With Wicked, DEELA isn’t just dropping a mixtape, she’s making a statement. Fearless, magnetic, and impossible to ignore, she’s leading a new wave of boundary breaking artists shaping the sound of tomorrow.
