Devra ft: Jackson Mathod - Vondelpark Bop (Single)
Devra Returns with Groovy New Single ‘Vondelpark Bop’.
Italian drummer, producer and composer Devra – aka Fabio De Angelis – is back with ‘Vondelpark Bop’, the latest single from his upcoming EP On the Way, out 5th December via Root Records.
Following the warm reception of his debut self-titled EP – which picked up support from Jazz FM, Soho Radio, and Italy’s DLSO – Devra continues to shape his sound, blending groove-based jazz with hip-hop, soul and global influences. This time around, he’s joined by a truly international lineup of collaborators, including UK trumpeter Jackson Mathod, Californian beatmaker Paul Grant, and German producer The Offline.
‘Vondelpark Bop’ sees Devra team up with Mathod for a richly expressive track inspired by Amsterdam’s iconic park, channelling the spirit of Roy Hargrove and the contemporary jazz stylings of Robert Glasper. “This was co-written with Jackson, someone I really admire and with whom I had a great connection from the start,” Devra shares.
Each track on On the Way reflects a personal transition – both musical and emotional – with collaborators invited to draw on a place that holds special meaning for them. That idea first took shape with the summery ‘Mill Street Samba’ (featuring Paul Grant), followed by the EP’s title track in September – a jazz-funk anthem celebrating creative drive and growth.
With early support from Jamie Cullum (BBC Radio 2), Tom Ravenscroft (Rinse FM) and more, Devra’s upcoming EP is shaping up to be a must-listen for fans of modern jazz with a global edge.
