Krissy - SOLO (Single) + 10 Questions
Krissy Steps Into the Spotlight with New Single “SOLO”.
Manhattan-based rising star Krissy returns this autumn with her effortlessly cool new single “SOLO”, out now. Blending sultry vocals with smooth lo-fi production, the track celebrates independence and self-assurance with understated confidence. “Didn’t realise how good I’d be solo,” she sings — a line that perfectly sums up the song’s relaxed yet empowering mood.
Accompanied by a sleek, cinematic video featuring dancer Christian Ocampo, “SOLO” pairs fluid choreography with Krissy’s chic, laid-back sound, creating a visual and sonic statement of strength and sophistication.
Speaking about the release, Krissy explains: “SOLO sets the tone for my upcoming EP Word Vomit. It’s intentionally chill — soft vocals, nostalgic production, and lyrics that remind you to celebrate life even when you’re on your own. It’s that long drive, dancing-in-your-bedroom vibe.”
Written and produced across Paris, Los Angeles, and New York, “SOLO” marks the first glimpse of a five-track EP due early next year.
A model and dark-pop dance artist based in the Lower East Side, Krissy draws inspiration from the spirit of disco icons like Donna Summer and Diana Ross, filtered through modern influences such as Kaytranada and Mitski. Her sound fuses lo-fi textures, soulful harmonies, and nostalgic grooves into something that feels at once intimate and electric.
With “SOLO”, Krissy invites listeners into her world — where nostalgia meets reinvention and self-confidence takes centre stage.
Krissy sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:
1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?
Well, I honestly can’t remember when music was not involved somehow in my life. When I think of my younger days, music was right there like the first memory of my brother. Church children’s choir, performing and singing, making up songs with my cousins - my father had many cds lying around and there was always a house party playing reggae music or Whitney and Celine Dion. it was always like “duh, music.”
2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?
That's such a big question for a small artist like me… I don’t have many idols but Beyonce feels like the artist of my life. She has influenced everything. I’d love to work in some capacity with Raye, Tove Lo, A.G Cook, Dijon, MK.gee, Kaytranada, SG Lewis, Kevin Parker, the list goes on if I’m dreaming up manifestations…
3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?
I do have a second EP in the works, titled “WORD VOMIT”. Working on some visuals for it now and I’m hesitant and excited.
4. How would you describe your sound?
I think my sound is a bit of a dark pop. Idk. I struggle with this as I think I'm still honing my sound.
5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?
My first showcase was a testament to myself. I think that I genuinely do love what I’m pursuing. Being on stage always feels like a very proud moment and a shock to the system.
6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?
Haha, i’m not entirely sure i’m the girl for this. Selfishly, I think I need advice??? Suggestions please!?
7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?
Besides listening to Krissy and Eat This Cake, in anticipation for a second EP… replaying SOLO… etc I really am playing on repeat Audrey Hobert, anticipating fka twigs afterglow.
8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?
My current playlist… is a beautiful crazy mix of Justin Bieber’s Swag - it has crack in it, Romance by Fontaines D.C, I barely Know Her by sombr. Still not over Ariana Grande, Eternal Sunshine, SABLE fABLE Bon Iver, June Lodge, Someone Loves You Honey, Fern Kinney - Fern. Renaissance will forever be platinum in my house. HNNY’s Sunday, current repeat.
9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?
I love films. If I’m not working on music, I’m really digesting art in another form. Lots of Metro-graph hangs in my neighbourhood. Currently rewatching Shrek to disassociate from life.
10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?
Chapstick, water, my phone (admittedly it’s where I keep my lyrics, but i’m learning to be more hands on and write them in a cute notebook.)
Shoot, actually take out chapstick and replace with glasses to see said phone for lyrics. Don’t need anything else but a mic.
