Lance Ferguson breathes 70s soul into Billie Eilish’s My Future.

Melbourne’s multi-talented musician and producer Lance Ferguson returns with a lush reinterpretation of Billie Eilish’s 2020 hit My Future, featuring powerhouse vocalist Rita Satch. The track offers a first taste of Rare Groove Spectrum, Vol. 3, due for release on Friday 21st November.

Reimagining Eilish’s introspective pop ballad through a sultry 1970s soul lens, Ferguson blends live instrumentation, rich harmonies and Rita Satch’s stunning vocal performance to create something both nostalgic and new.

“Billie Eilish’s My Future is almost like a modern jazz standard,” says Lance. “I’d originally played around with it as a guitar instrumental, but Rita’s vocal completely transformed it – she really makes it her own.”

Following Could Heaven Ever Be Like This and Dominoes, My Future is the third single from Rare Groove Spectrum, Vol. 3 – the latest in Ferguson’s acclaimed series that reworks classic soul, jazz and funk tunes with a fresh, live energy. The project has already drawn praise from Gilles Peterson, Jazz FM, and Craig Charles, cementing Lance’s reputation as one of Australia’s most visionary musical minds.

Known for his work with The Bamboos, Menagerie and Lanu, Ferguson’s catalogue spans 45 albums, over 100 singles, and collaborations with artists from Aloe Blacc to Roy Ayers. His global hit This Girl (Kungs vs Cookin’ On 3 Burners) has racked up more than 1.2 billion Spotify streams, proving his groove translates worldwide.

With My Future, Ferguson once again bridges eras and genres — reminding us why his name is synonymous with soul, style and serious musicianship.
