Charlotte, North Carolina rapper Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon has announced his forthcoming album As of Now, out 30th January, and shared new single and video, I’m Getting Too Famous.
Known for his singular vocal style and eccentric sense of humour, Jah-Monte recently joined the Lex Records roster - home to MF DOOM, Fly Anakin, and Chuck Strangers - and marked the milestone with the aptly-titled single, I’m Signed to Lex Now I’m Up.
The rapper returns today with his latest track, I’m Getting Too Famous, in which Jah-Monte reflects with wit on his rising profile, balancing irony and sincerity while gliding smoothly over off-kilter production.
Due out 30th January, As of Now will be Jah-Monte’s first album for Lex and features guest appearances from YL, BbyMutha, Wild Recluse, and Deniro Farrar, plus production by Chuck Strangers, Navy Blue, Dirty Art Club, and others. The album builds on his already-extensive self-released catalogue which includes the Navy Blue-produced mixtape Beautifully Black and critically acclaimed I’ve Really Never Been Better.
Jah-Monte will join label-mate Chuck Strangers for a one-off London show at Club Cheek on 18th October. Tickets are on sale now.
