Runrummer - All I Wanted Was To Be Romantic (Single)

Another track ahead of her debut album ‘Elevator’, Runrummer has a new single offering entitled ‘All I Wanted Was To Be Romantic’. Drenched in nostalgic synth-pop aesthetics, the track shines despite its melancholy lyricism, with rich melodies and bass grooves decorating the atmosphere. Vocally, Runrummer delivers another energising alt-pop performance, balancing the wistful with the content, effortlessly conveying conflicting emotions.

Runrummer shares on the new single, “‘All I Wanted Was To Be Romantic’ is a song about falling for your best friend; thinking that you’re both on the same page and then coming to the realisation that they just don’t feel the same way, and you will be left forever longing for a love which cannot be”.

Inspired by the sounds of Metronomy and Parcels (a strong nod to her Kitsuné roots) with a vocal tone reminiscent of La Roux, her lyrics dance effortlessly around the catchy indie electronic hook which also draws comparisons to Shura and Romy. An artist on the rise for 2024, Runrummer has seen support from Kitsuné Musique, BBC Introducing and the PRS Foundation for her achievements over the past three years. Opening the Introducing Stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, charting on iTunes Norway and reaching #14 in the Music Week Club Chart, she has also played festival stages across France, toured the UK and been featured on Spotify Editorial playlists.

Officially tipped by BBC Introducing and Rolling Stone as “one to watch” along with two tracks signed under Kitsuné Musique, she oozes a distinctive form of alt-pop which effortlessly blends indie and electro with waves of nostalgia. Most recently Runrummer has been selected as a recipient of the coveted PRS Foundation ‘Women Make Music’ Award; providing funding and support for the release of her debut album ‘Elevator’ set for release later this year 2024.
