Bushkin is the founder and front man of the Infamous group the Heartless Crew, known for their groundbreaking UK garage sound chart success and being the founders of UK grime music. During their peek, the talented trio toured outside the UK and introduced UK Garage/Grime to the world, whilst sharing the stage with many internationally acclaimed artists. This later earned them MOBO nominations and countless awards including The Legacy award and a contribution to music award. Now focused on his solo career as a recording artist, Bushkin’s undeniable charm makes him stand out from everyone else. His thought provoking lyrics, poignant delivery and energetic personality make him impossible to pigeonhole and is extremely unique. Although humbled by his accomplishments thus far, Bushkin hopes that through his new music and working with new artists on his label, BUSHBASH RECORDINGS, listeners and clubbers alike will feel his energy, passion and vision for music. The future is looking ‘Absolutely good you know!’ About BushBash Recordings: Taking inspiration from Berry Gordy's Motown and liking himself to serial entrepreneur Master P, MC Bushkin is striving to make BushBash Recordings the UK's answer to Def Jam. With just a handful of artists including Sweet P, Oscar and of course himself, MC Bushkin is ready to push the boundaries of the current UK music scene and make some serious noise. MC Bushkin says: “Our ethos is simple, we are just ‘putting the dance back into music.’ I think this attitude was born from my experiences with the Heartless Crew and our sound system mentality where we would play every genre and because we play every genre, I want BushBash Recordings to reflect this and make every genre. After all MUSIC is the ANSWER!

MC Bushkin sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

Hi guys first things first big love for having me and giving me this opportunity it’s much appreciated Thank you.

Ok so my love of music started many moons ago while I was still in my mums belly. My mum was struggling at this point in her life but said she would always listen to music to uplift her spirit and help her rise above the challenges she faced, this had a great effect on me and not only made me fall in love with music but also made me very resilient in life.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

Artist that have influenced me over the years including Ninja Man, Vybz Kartel, Tiger, Papa San, Yellow Man, Krs1, Young Thug, R Kelly (don’t judge me) and from the UK Mc Shabba, Mc Det, Tubby T, DJ Fonti, and loads more.

Ummmm and I’d love to work with Rihanna I think that’s would be special lol.

3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

There’s so much coming up it’s crazy but a few things to look out for:

I’ve directed my first ever film/documentary called “The Story So Far” which follows the journey of my record label BushBash Recordings - it’s showing in Genisis cinema Mile End on the Tuesday 30th April.

Heartless Crew are doing our first ever festival on the 15th/16th June 24 were super gassed for this.

And music wise I’ve got a tune coming with Brinsley Ford from the legendary Aswad group it’s gonna be a good summer trust me.

4. How would you describe your sound?

That’s a easy one, I describe my sound as vibes hype and energy.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

I have been truly blessed with my career so far and have had so many amazing moments but I truly believe my best and proudest moments are still yet to come.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

My main bit of advice for anyone interested in music would be anyone can do music but music is not for everyone. So before you get into music really assess why you’re doing it, because although you may love music you may not like the music business.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

Yes I’ve always got artists on my radar so please keep a lookout for an artist by the name of CeCe and also Aya Bleu, they both have tunes dropping on my label very soon.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

It’s so weird as I very rarely listen to albums, I’m more of a singles man but the last album I was rinsing was To Tanesha by Vybz Kartel.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

When I’m not making music I love clubbing (I know) I also like reading, driving and i’m really getting into the behind the scenes of the music industry at the moment too.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

Ummmmm that’s a good one, 1 slippers, 2 herbal tea, 3 water/sweets.
