Summers Sons - Still Nothing Still (Album)

Two brothers, surname Summers. London rap duo Summers Sons release their fifth album for Melting Pot Music, "Still Nothing Still". It is a far cry from the beloved jazz rap the group is known for. The jazz influence is still there but sonically and lyrically Turt & Slim are playing in a class of their own. Slim is adding a more electronic, trip-hoppy vibe to his beautifully executed beats. Turt delivers his raps with a new urgency and confidence. Having been diagnosed with epilepsy in 2021 had a major impact on his life and art. As a lyricist, Turt has always worn his heart on his sleeve but never so honestly, poetically, vulnerably, angrily, and sharp as on "Still Nothing Still".

Turt: "This album is about connection. The electric nature of everything.
This album is about impermanence. Good or bad, the only constant is change
This album is about growth. It’s painful, but we learn nothing being comfortable.

Sometimes I find it hard to talk about my albums. I spent so long crafting everything I wanted to say and put it in the music. But it feels good to share this one with you. This is not my music, this is our music. Please go have a listen and I hope it makes you feel something.

These have been the most challenging years of our life, but all the struggle won’t be in vain. We’ve really got a message and something to say. In these crazy times it’s easy to feel powerless. But there is power in expression and we want to give a voice to anyone this resonates with. The work ain't always light, but the Light is always working!"
