Isatta Sheriff + Koralle - Eat The Kiwi Skin (EP)

Today - 23rd September - East London rapper Isatta Sheriff and Italian beatmaker Koralle release their highly anticipated EP, ‘Eat The Kiwi Skin’. As we journey into the world of Eastender Isatta - who unapologetically eats the skin of kiwi - the lyricist-production duo have set the tone over the past few months with stand-out singles ‘Window Thoughts’ and ‘Will They Try’. For ‘Eat The Kiwi Skin’, Isatta states: “I paint a picture of my journey so far as a Black female rapper, and the racial politics and experiences surrounding that. It follows Laid Back’s relaxed approach to the stage where I am at making music on my own terms and speaking freely.”

The EP sees appearances from Lex Amor, Shumba Youth, Awate, and last but not least Mercy's Cartel on the lead single, ‘For Those Who Love’. The Koralle production provides the perfect backdrop for Mercy’s warm and radiant chorus that truly brings the single to life. Highlighting their love of nineties nostalgia and the legacy the Hip-Hop scene left, Isatta references the likes of Mary J Blige, Aaliyah and Lisa Left Eye Lopez as well as other throwbacks including The Fresh Prince.

The rising rapper rose to prominence due to her profound and conscious lyricism which remains at the heart of everything she does. With a rich discography that started in 2016, Isatta is not one to shy away from collaboration, having worked with Flying Lotus and Oddisee over the years. A multi-faceted individual with a master's degree in music business, Isatta runs her own label (Doctored Sound) alongside working as an artist development and music consultant for the likes of The Rap Game UK. Adding to this, Isatta worked as a teacher for years and used her passion for music and education to mastermind ‘The Miseducation of the insta-generation’, an initiative that aims to inspire and develop inner-city musical talent. The project has gone on to have been championed by Kenny AllStar, Charlie Sloth and Clash Magazine amongst others.
