VTA - Deep in the Street (Single + Official Video)

Western Sydney-based drill artist VTA has released a new single, ‘Deep in the Street’ through B.A.M Records, alongside an accompanying music video shot by The Last Addition. The track was produced by Sefru, and mastering is courtesy of Gambino.

This is just VTA’s second official single, preceded by ‘The Weekend’. VTA has spoken about the inspiration and motivating factors that pushed him to write ‘Deep in the Street’:

Growing up in the Western Sydney suburb of Mount Druitt, I experienced more of life’s downs than ups. With incarceration an imminent result from the streets, I chose to be the master of my image, and with the help of my friends, we started what is now known as B.A.M Records. I am looking to share the rawness of the street and realness of my experiences with people through my music. From my experience in the streets, I think now, for me, it’s about sharing the streets without being in them, and with ‘Deep in the Street’, I think it’s important for people to understand streets have no borders.
— VTA

The experiences that VTA speaks of can be found front and center within the lyrical content of ‘Deep in the Street’: he raps about being introduced to guns at a young age, becoming desensitised to his environment, and becoming confident within it. VTA’s uncompromising, hard-hitting delivery makes the song take on somewhat of a celebratory tone, while also containing denser lyrical moments at times. The production is a pairing of acoustic guitar with an uptempo drill beat - a combination that Sefru appears to have down to a T. The music video features imagery from the suburbs of Claymore, Lalor Park and Blacktown; places where the events VTA describes often take place.
