Idyll & King Girl - Nice (Single + Official Video)

Idyll has released his latest single, “Nice” (produced by King Girl), alongside an accompanying music video. This comes via Brighton label CultDeep Records, who have been extremely active as of late.

“Nice” marks the next step in a series of collaborations between Idyll and King Girl. Where Idyll’s flows and cadences on their previous collaborations have been more hard-hitting and uncompromising (“Lemon” and “Extra Spice” come to mind), “Nice” sees Idyll pivot towards a more laid-back, understated flow, emphasising an introspective lyrical tone. King Girl delivers a typical contrasting blend of uptempo drill-centric beats with smooth melodic embellishments. Both Idyll and King Girl spoke on their creative process for “Nice”:

“I wanted to write about grafting but in a positive and comical way to contrast the often toxic hustle culture we are presented online. The lyrics are hoping for something better while acknowledging my own pitfalls as well as some dark sides of this otherwise sunny city we live in, Brighton and society as a whole.” - Idyll

“The instrumental was kept lo-fi and was inspired by producers in the UK underground such as Venna and Joe James. Working with Idyll, we always need to keep it simple and punchy so the bars can be heard proper!” - King Girl
