PREMIERE: Guami and Steven Bamidele - It Could Happen (Single)

Brighton-based hip-hop and soul producer Guami has released his latest single ‘It Could Happen’, featuring Steven Bamidele, via the independent label CultDeep Records.

Both Guami and Bamidele were active towards the back-end of 2021: Guami collaborated with fellow Brighton-based artists Kymara and ZVK for the track ‘All Seasons’, while Bamidele released his second EP, ‘Uncrowded’. ‘It Could Happen’ is both artists’ first release since then, and it sees Guami opt for a more laid-back, lounge aesthetic this time round. In terms of composition, ‘It Could Happen’ is reminiscent of Stereolab’s Dots And Loops (whether this reference point is intentional or not), but with the rhythmic emphasis on hip-hop rather than jazz. Bamidele’s vocal-layering and harmonising throughout the track acts as the ideal complement to the dreamy soundscape Guami constructs: as a result, this track is sure to have an ear-worm effect for many.
