Blu & Exile – Miles [From the Interlude Called Life] (Album)

Hip hop hall-of-famers Blu & Exile are back and they’re not pulling any punches! It’s been eight years since the almighty Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them album and in an effort to make up for ‘lost ground’ they’re hitting hard with twenty blistering tracks on ; those familiar with their sound will be very happy! “We planted the seeds of creativity and grew about 40 plants,” Exile says of the release. “We picked the ones that we thought were the best for an album, but that didn’t mean that the other flowers weren’t beautiful.”

The genius blend of jazz-tinged beats and top-form intelligent lyrics is a perfect homage to jazz legend Miles Davis and many more musicians of that stature. It’s evident, as it has been with their previous releases that their knowledge and appreciation of the history behind the music is unwavering.

Exile’s signature dusty yet fresh production fits perfectly with Blu’s often inspiring verses – the topics flicker from politics, history, influences and an altruistic vision of the future.

Listen to the whole album above and be sure to peep their new music video for Roots of Blue too. Miles is available on Spotify & Apple Music now. Follow Blu & Exile for all the latest info and releases.
