Verb T – More Dynamite EP

Brand new 5 track EP from UK veteran and a quarter of the Four Owls, Verb T

I have been a big fan of Verb T for some years now and he is responsible for one of my favourite punchlines of all time ‘Hold it down like fat kids on see-saws’ his joint LP with Kashmere was also one of the first UK hip hop albums I owned. Having been in the game for a while, Verbs still manages to, in my opinion, get better with every release and this is no exception. Every track on this release is dope and the beats, all handled by JJ Malone, are tight, the title track ‘More Dynamite’ also features guest verses from UK heavyweights Sonny Jim and Joker Starr. This EP is available on Verb T’s Bandcamp (below) for just £3 which is an absolute bargain given the quality of the music. Check check it!

The Four Owls – Natures Greatest Mystery

It’s not too often I get excited about a new release, but when this album dropped on my desk I got fucking excited! Fliptrix, Verb T, BVA and Leafdog of High Focus records have taken their already undeniable solo talents and joined forces to create a brand spanking new album as newly formed super group The Four Owls.

Nature’s Greatest Mystery brings together all of the trademark skills of each individual into one finished product; from Leaf dog’s characteristic vocal style to Fliptrix’s diverse multi’s. Each track showcases exactly why these guys are pivotal players in the UK scene and instrumental in its re-birth. The album is a spectacle; each track is a head nodding classic boom bap masterpiece, and the lyrics are some of the most honest and captivating I have heard in a long, long time. Seriously I cannot urge you to buy this album enough, not only for your own musical enjoyment but also to support what these guys are doing for the scene.

Natures Greatest Mystery will be released Dec 5th, thats next week already. Pre order your copy, in-fact grab a vinyl because they wont be about long, they’ll make a good stocking filler so ask your Mum, Dad, Uncle, Nan or Missus. Get it here: High Focus

The Four Owls

Loads of hype for this group……..band…… collective? And we can see why as they finally drop the debut single LIGHTS OFF! High Focus records leading the way in the UK again, we predict big things for The Four Owls and even bigger for High Focus! Hear the track below and cop it here

We’ve been here almost two weeks now and I hope we see something soon…

There’s something there, what is it?

It’s an OWL.”

Deep in the High Focus catacombs, Nature’s Greatest Mystery has been gathering in force. For years the underworld has been buzzing to the sound of a new band of lyricists, a feathered troop of strigiformes unlike anything the world has seen before. It is only now, one month before the apocalypse, that mankind is finally ready for the full force of Nature’s Greatest Mystery.

This band of owls hover in cypher circles gripping microphones with their iron talons, leaving humans in the wake of their earthly knowledge. Led by the merciless BIG OWL (FLIPTRIX), guided by the teachings of BIRD T (VERB T), entertained by the do-or-die spirit of RUSTY TAKE-OFF (BVA MC) & inspired by the inventions of DEFORMED WING (LEAF DOG), THE FOUR OWLS have played in the shadows for long enough. Backed entirely by High Focus artist Leaf Dog on the production The Owls maintain a sound that is true to Hip Hop in its real form.

Nature’s Greatest Mystery is High Focus Records most ambitious release to date. The label has quickly gained a reputation for pushing boundaries in a scene that has grown desperate for a new type of binocular vision. The Four OWLS are responsible for a modern day classic, fourteen tracks of straight up-and-down head banging rhythms, undiluted lyricism and conceptual brilliance. Who said UK hip hop was dead? Just look to the skies.

The time has come for The Four Owls to descend silently from their colony in the highest mountain peaks and unleash a wave of hip hop unlike anything you mere humans have heard before.

THIS IS THE AGE OF THE OWL.
