As you can probably tell, following on from the Ky-mani Marley review, we are feeling the ‘Every Tongue Shall Tell’ riddim hard at the minute! This collaboration between two hot artists is a sure fire killer! Gyptian, as usual, is on point with the sweetest voice singing pure consciousness counter balanced by the Trinidad artist Khari Kill’s deejay style which works so well on this classic riddim track.
The track is produced by legendary dancehall selector and soundman Babyface from the ‘Biltmore’ era’s mighty King Addies soundsystem, one of the few sounds that alongside people like Rodigan and Bass Odyssey continue to draw huge crowds in the international sound clash circuit. This tune is on his own label, called Lion King Muzik, and if this track is anything to go by then this is certainly one label to keep your eyes peeled for.
The style of the riddim is wicked, featuring absolutley killer drums, understated horns and wicked vocals, truly a good version of a much used riddim. Play this alongside Ky-mani Marley’s ‘My Heart Cries’ and Beres Hammond’s mighty anthem ‘Serious’ – one of my favourite tunes of all time! It’s also nice to hear Gyptian, known for his lovers’ anthems like ‘Hold Yuh’ and ‘Beautiful Lady’ sing on a roots tip, smashing it same way.
This is as far as I know a download only track but, download it all the same because it is definitely a killer piece of Jamaican roots and culture that is not to be missed!
