Gappy Ranks has to be the hardest working UK reggae artist around, constantly travelling the world bringing his own brand of dancehall vibes to the people. Since he was a member of the UK dancehall collective Suncycle, Gappy has been creating wicked tunes non-stop in a range of styles. Everything from deejaying on Studio One riddims for the West London based reggae machine Peckings to making bashment tracks that are played in JA and working with huge artists like Busy Signal, Gappy is everywhere.
The latest E.P ‘Cookies’ is a dedication to the artist’s appreciation of the finest medicinal herbs and covers all kinds of styles from hardcore dancehall to more chart friendly sounding tunes and of course the ever influential Studio One riddims. This is THE artist at the minute, a real UK reggae legend, so to hear that a UK tour is on the cards is exciting to say the least. All I can say to anyone is to go and see the show if it comes anywhere near where you live! Gappy is supported by the Soul Rebel band which I have been reliably informed is killer, this is the thing to see before the year is out for sure.
