Chilled out Saturday afternoon sofa bound single from Eat good records foreman Sonnyjim. “Trying to get home” sees Sonnyjim team up with Brazilian producer Little Brother with Metamore laying down some warm vocals.
On production Nel Sentimentum (Little Brother) starts this chilled track with saloon styled piano rifts, throwing in some jazz infused snare kicks, setting the whole thing off with the softest of soft bass lines bouncing through out. The production kills it with a subtle hint of Boom Bap.
Sonnyjim for me takes us on one of his deepest voyages with his choice of lyrical subject. This tracks about metaphorically finding yourself told In a dope abstract form. Sonnyjim honestly has laid down some of his most heavy hitting lines in this track “These glasses and this jacket make me look like someone famous, my eye on your money like I’m mason” DOPE right? Its sick to hear Sonny spit over something so chilled and ambient and still be able to inject his own character efficiently, this track is made even better with the appearance of the silky suave vocal box of Metamore. EAT GOOD STANDARDLY the man says it himself.
