SHARP - HAPPY* (Single)

Following the success of latest single ‘Get Involved’, SHARP returns with ‘HAPPY*’. This is an Indie/Lofi-House inspired rap song that takes the listener on a journey through SHARP’s struggles with anxiety. The asterisk in the title perfectly encapsulates the song’s message. The idea of being happy, but with conditions, and things being more complicated than they initially seem is explored throughout.

To tell this story, SHARP uses the backdrop of pre-drinks and going out on a night out. This theme follows on from SHARP’s last single, which together will be part of upcoming debut EP called ‘ONE NIGHT’. The whole EP follows the story of a night out, beginning with pre’s, and ending by looking back on the times enjoyed.

Produced by Cloubee (mustbejohn, Luke RV), SHARP floats over the Lofi-House style of production with ease. The song's shimmering melody and house-inspired drums allow for huge listenability. The catchy-chorus succinctly describes complex feelings and emotions. The verses showcase SHARP’s storytelling ability, going through both the feeling’s of anxiety and happiness that can be experienced on a night-out with friends. This message has seen a swell of support across TikTok and Instagram.

SHARP has previously been given radio support from BBC Introducing, as well as from publications such as Oculate UK, REPEAT MAG, Wordplay Magazine & more.

Speaking on the track, SHARP expressed, “I think there’s such a contrast between different emotions when you go and socialise. Sometimes it’s amazing, but sometimes you feel like shit and just want to go home, and that can switch back-and-forth in the same night. That’s the idea I wanted to talk about on HAPPY*, and the project as a whole.”

“For me, anxiety is a part of seeing friends and going out to a party or night-out. I think this is the same for a lot of people, but we’re all pretending it isn’t. It’s been so nice to see other people relate to the message of HAPPY* since I’ve started promoting it. It makes me feel like I’m not the only one struggling with anxiety like this.”
